is a European Regulation adopted to improve the protection of human health and the environment from risks that can be posed by chemicals.
OEKO TEX
confirms the human-ecological safety of textile products and leather articles from all stages of production to the final product. Some also attest to socially and environmentally sound conditions in production facilities.
Red List Free
free from the “worst in class” materials, chemicals, and elements known to pose serious risks to human health and the greater ecosystem that are prevalent in the building products industry. The International Living Future Institute (ILFI) believes that these materials should be phased out of production due to human and/or environmental health and toxicity concerns.
Greenguard Gold
products are built to contribute to safer, healthier air, are low-emitting and contribute to cleaner indoor air, screened for more than 15,000 VOCs known to pollute indoor air.
LEED
an internationally recognized green building certification system that promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
RoHS
the restriction of hazardous substances such as lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP).
HPD
provides a full disclosure of the potential chemicals of concern in products by comparing product ingredients to a set of priority “hazard” lists based on the GreenScreen for Safer Chemicals and additional lists from other government agencies. HPDs qualify for numerous green building schemes, including LEED v4, WELL, Google Portico, and Living Product Challenge.
